Awesome MCP Servers: A Directory That Checks Every Server Nightly
In short
Awesome MCP Servers is AI Anytime's open-source, community-maintained directory of Model Context Protocol servers at mcp.aianytime.net. Unlike a static list, it connects to every hosted server each night and shows whether it answered, whether it needs a sign-in, how many tools it exposes and roughly how many tokens those tools take up in a model's context.
Checked every night
Each hosted server is sent a real MCP handshake nightly. The directory records whether it answered without credentials, asked for auth or did not respond, along with the handshake time. Local stdio servers are listed too, but run on your own machine and are not checked.
Know the cost before you connect
For servers that answer, the directory lists every tool and estimates how many tokens the tool definitions occupy in a model's context, so you can spot a server that will use tens of thousands of tokens before you ask anything.
Built for agents as well as people
The whole directory is published as JSON, llms.txt and llms-full.txt, and the repository includes an MCP server that searches the directory by keyword, category and live status.
Add your server
Maintainers add a server with a pull request containing one small JSON file. Once merged it gets its own page, a nightly check and a status badge to embed in its README.
Learn to build one
The same repository holds small, readable reference MCP servers in Python, from a first stdio server to a remote server and a host application.

What is Awesome MCP Servers?
It is AI Anytime's open-source directory of Model Context Protocol servers at mcp.aianytime.net. Every hosted server in it is connected to each night, so the directory shows live status, auth requirements, tool counts and context cost rather than a static list of links.
Does a listing mean an MCP server is safe to use?
No. The nightly check records what a server answered, not whether it is safe. A listing is not a security audit, so read a server's source and the permissions it asks for before connecting it.
How do I add my MCP server to the directory?
Open a pull request on the AIAnytime/Awesome-MCP-Servers repository on GitHub that adds one JSON file describing your server. The contributing guide in the repository has the exact format.
Is the directory free?
Yes. The directory, its data and its code are free and open source under the MIT license.
